what do you guys think about me adding the chrome fender and bag rail in pursuit of the Classic look? Too much chrome can't be a terrible thing?
I think your bike would look outstanding with chrome rails. I love mine, but I probably went overboard with my rails. But like you said...... Too much chrome can't be a terrible thing.
what do you guys think about me adding the chrome fender and bag rail in pursuit of the Classic look? Too much chrome can't be a terrible thing? My other thought is to change out the bars to something a little lower and wider, but I've not ridden a bike with the beach style bars yet.
Beach bars are not for everyone. My bike (and several others that I'm aware of here on the forum) have Wild 1 0508's or 0518's (pretty much the same bar with differences for taller and shorter drivers)...the Wild's are a good compromise between your current bars and BB's. As for chrome rails; take a look at my bike if you want an idea of what yours would look like with front/rear fender and saddlebag rails. I have a Motherwell rail that rides on the rear fender - easy on and off. It adds a bit to the bare spot behind your seat. I love Corbin's seat with the rail on the back of it - I've priced them at about $700 for the combination so Motherwell's rail is another option that costs a lot less. There's a fine line between too much and not enough. My bike obviously has too much for some, maybe not enough for a few others ...but its just right for my tastes. In the end it is your bike and whether you go big or you go little you'll always get plenty of compliments. In my opinion the fender and saddlebag rails will definitely look awesome on your bike (is my bias showing?!) !! To help you along, here is a picture of my bike with the Motherwell rear fender rail:
Seanl, I agree with Whiskers, BB's are not for everyone, but WO 518's would look sharp on your bike (which looks great BTW). Bag guard rails would also compliment, but I'm not sure the front fender rail would go with the wheel. Would be nice to see some photoshop options.

Have fun with your bike!!
I agree that the saddlebag rails look good. But with an RKC (like yours, mine and the OP's) they have always looked to me like they would make getting to the bag latches annoying. Have you found that to be the case?

That's a good observation and noted issue. I'm in and out of my bags all the time. Is this an issue with the hot exhaust so close to the rails?

Opening and closing the saddlebags has always been a two-handed operation. The rails are something else to deal with but they aren't a big enough problem that I have ever thought I didn't want them on the bike. I tuck the leather tag end behind the rail and ride on.
