Have ridden about 1500 miles on my hammock, the newer version with hammock support front & back. Very comfortable for my butt, it supports but still has "give" to it. It does definitely set you up at least an inch higher (depending on your prior seat). My wife is comfortable but she sits almost level with me due to my portion of the seat being higher. She likes to look over my head, not into the back of it, so I am putting a pad on it, just to raise her up a little higher. Be forewarned, if you are using a detachable sissybar on your bike, the forward ends of the sissybar poke into the sides of the seat (due to its increased width). Within 500 miles it rubbed small holes through the vinyl on the side of the seat. My dealer is checking with Harley to see what they will do about it. If I get a new seat, I'm going to glue a leather patch on each side of the seat to protect it from abrasion. As far as the spine goes, I doubt that it would help much with that problem, I would think the sprung cop seat would be your best choice for that.
i have a 2010 scremin eagle heated hammock on a 2010 limited it raised me one inch from stock seat, most comfortable seat ive ever been on highly recomend, wife loves it to i ordered mine through chicago harley, got the passenger adjustable back rest to match really nice outfit. hope this helps
i have this setup too. its a seat that i never think during a ride that i need to adjust myself to get comfortable. will be trying a few solo seats this year. i love the heat on the hammock.

good idea on the passenger backrest impacting the seat, think i will try some of the small self sticking pads that you put on chair legs and such to keep from scratching the floors and attach to the inside of the backrest. nothing permanent and might accomplish the same thing.

Reason: left something off
I was interested in this seat myself. After browsing this forum and asking a few questions to other members I decided not to buy it. There is a 50/50 chance that you may like it. Most of the good reviews were for the old sundowner seat. Let us know your take if you buy it.
I got one last Saturday, Dealer had a 30% of day so I bought it. I only rode it for a few miles but I think it felt pretty good. I think it moves you up an inch, and back about an inch or more.
Jeffery,
Put one (the newer one w/ rear suspension too) on my '09 FLHR. Dealer had a special, and also said I could try it out for 4 days, and if I didn't like it, I could bring it back. Look for someone local to do that.
I first thought I might get some "butt pinch", but later I adapted or the saddle adapted to me.
It really took the shock out of ride for both me and the Mrs.
It sets you up 1/2" to 1" higher while seated. I could not justify getting a taller windshield (they only come in 2" increments), so I got a stock length (20") clearview w/ lip. I'm 5'10" w/ 32" inseam. Also got the heritage bars w/ the seat (cause my back was killin me), and now it's all good. Can ride all day now, before it was about 4-5 hrs, then I (we) started getting grumpy.
Hadn't even thought about asking to put it on my bike to sit on, let alone to try it out for a ride. I also have the 09 Road King. I already did the Heritage bars last summer. (I get the feeling that they might not have been drastic enough - possibly mini or full size apes in the future?) Nothing to looze by asking about the seat, even though I will probably wait till the spring at this point. In the 20's here in NJ now. If I took a ride now I'd shake worse than the bike on our pot hole laden streets. Thanks!
