Default 3M Tape Application

I have chrome inserts for my saddlebags to replace the reflectors. I've removed the reflectors (thanks all for the advice). The area is clean, now I need to install the chrome inserts. The temperature is somewhere in the mid fifties here. Will the tape adhere okay in this temperature? Should I heat the surface before applying? Any suggestions?

it's the temperature of what you are installing it on that matters, feel the surface and if its real cold by touch warm it up a little, but don't heat it up

Don't forget to clean the surface with alcohol or something else before applying the tape.

I removed the old reflectors, and cleaned the surface thoroughly with goo be gone, then with isopropyl alcohol.

remove the saddlebags and bring them inside for the install. it'll ensure better adhesion being where it's warm. also like the other guy mentioned, you were right to use alcohol to clean any residue so they'll stick well. the bags are easy to remove so bring them inside where it's warm.

Doi! pretty stupid of me not to think of that. I know it's been a bad month, but I guess I'm not thinking straight.

Anyway, they're inside warming up now (the cats are real interested in them). Thanks for suggesting the obvious, I guess I needed that.
