I would like to replace stock pipes with some V&H Ovals on my 07 Ultra. I have listen to quite a few and think these would be a nice upgrade at a decent price. I would like to leave cat in for now. Anyone currently running same set up? Comments on performance?
I have the V&H Ovals as well on my '08 Ultra and they sound great (stock head pipes), at least that is what I have been told. Can still here the stereo and I hear it much better now with my Wind splitter windshield as I replaced the noisy SG shield I had on it last weekend. I say go for it!
I found the Ovals on my '08 had a bit too much snap to them. After a day of riding the snap became too much so I replaced them (3 times till I got it right.). The bike has duals and a cam which probably makes a difference but I have heard from others (stock bikes?) that said the same thing.
I had the same question a few weeks ago when I was trying to decide what slip-ons to put on my '09 Street Glide. I'm planning to keep stock headers for now.
I picked up a set of gently used V&H Ovals for a decent price. I am very happy with them. Louder and more aggressive than stock, but not so loud I can't hear the radio around town or on the highway.
I had V&H ovals put on my bike first week after purchase (2007 ) with header stock pipes, just blocked the crossover. they have great all around sound. didn't realizes what they sounded like till had bike in shop and tech guy rode pass me. nice to hear what yur own bike sounds like from the side of road. ovals bark when throttling up. nice tone at idle, good sound at cruising speed. my opinion for what it's worth.
