the dealer has a 2011 Sedona Orange Roadglide with the 103 upgrade.
havent started "haggling" on the price yet. They are a good dealership and have taken care of me in the past. Retail on the bike before tax, licensing etc is $22k
Im debating if i decide i want this bike i will trade in my 2007 Orange Roadglide with 20k. I have done zero engine work. It has Yaffe 10 inch apes, bassani exhaust, Arc amp, 6 1/2 inch speakers and cyclevisions baglites.
i would also trade in my 06 nitetrain in. That has been modified/customized with legends air ride, marzocchi inverted front end, ridewright 18x4.25 fat 50 front rim, heartland rear fender, yaffe x-pipes, br customs bars, lazerstar front and rear signals.
I owe a little on both of my bikes so it would eliminate a payment as well as some insurance.
thoughts? i know i have no $$$ amounts listed in this trade since i havent sat down to find out their offer. Im still tryin to decide if i want to do the deal and "Start over" building the roadglide again....
If it were me, and i know it's not, but i'd try selling your rides outright, then it seems like you have a little better buying power! Unless you just gotta have it right now. Good luck
it's totally up to you what you do. there's a lot to consider, and it's something that nobody but you can decide on. surely your 07 roadglide isn't worn out. i don't understand why when there is something new comes out, instantly the older stuff is considered by many to become instantly, obsolete.
My local HD really took care of me on my trade. Between the trade and the tax savings I ended up getting a nice chunk. If they have taken care of you in the past, they may do the right thing by you. In that case you would avoid the hassle of privately selling the bikes for yourself. Give a try and then decide. Either way that RG is a great bike. I have the 103 in my 2011 SG and it is a nice perk.

No i agree Im not saying its worn out at all and its something im thinkin about.
My big thought is of course its a "new" shiny thing but then i have to roughly drop $3k into it to make it "mine"- bars, exhaust, power commander, amp upgrade, black out items on the bike....
Its a thought I loosely began this conversation back in November....
Sounds like you have a 'crush' on the new, sweet thing! Would the dealer consign both bikes for you? If you are OK with selling both bikes, (you'd save $ on insurance, licensing) then had a real tight discussion with the dealer. Remember though, you may come out 'just ok' on the deal but he's going to come out better. If you understand this and are willing to take the loss, and can afford it...better make the move.
I was thinking about doing the same thing, trading my 07 Road Glide with 8k miles for a 2011 Sedona Orange Road Glide. I really like the color and the thought of having a new bike is always nice until the newness wears off and the payments are still there. Back in the beginning of October I went into my local Harley shop and saw the Sedona Orange Glide that was being purchased by another customer and if the bike was for sale I would have more then likely traded my bike on the spot. The dealer was going to give me 13k for mine as a trade. I thought the price they were offering me for my bike was pretty decent. I made the following upgrades to my glide: Elf audio amp, Hertz HCX 165 speakers, power commander, Super Trapp SE slip ons, and HD high flow air filter.
Then after leaving the dealership I thought, my bike does everything I want and need it to do. For me I just do not want my payments to start over again. I have 6 more payments and I own my Glide. Then I also thought, what would I want to change on the new Glide: Seat, shocks, audio amp, speakers, taller wind screen, pipes, and power commander.
I would say make the decision that makes you happy. That is all that really matters.
