Oil leaks from the air cleaner, as is a problem for more than a few of us, and I tried the mystfree set up from Doherty which wasn't the answer for me, and figured I might stick their powervents on and vent to the ground, but Tim at Doherty said not to try anything til I find out if she sumps by pulling the plug and see if I get less than 6 oz. and if so align the oil pump. Dealer wasn't very receptive saying there is a good risk of case damage taking the plug out and that his guys don't mess up the oil pump installs. I guess a fraction off could be the problem either centering or the stack set up. So now I am not so sure I want to pull that plug.

I called the Harley factory and spoke with the rep about this. He said to only fill the oil to the halfway point otherwise it will come out through the air filter.

So your saying we should only put in half the recommended amount of oil? I'll just have oil in my filter, they are cheaper than engines.
I heard that even if your compression was 10.5:1 you did not need compression releases as long as you use a larger starter (than stock) even in hot weather--is this true?
Sorry it's worked out for you this way. I may be paraphrasing here but when the service guy said "my guys don't mess up on oil pump alignment" that just kinda rubs me the wrong way. We're all human and we all make mistakes. Sounds like you were talking to Victor to me. Hes an alright guy but sometimes when he says **** like that it irritates me. Go see Jordin at Koweta Customs. I guarantee you he won't be afraid to pull that plug and check for sumping and he's a straight forward guy. No bs.
