Its actually a ploy by the MoCo to get you to ride more.
If it says 80 you might ride, as opposed to saying its 20.

Its a worthless POS, end of story, but it fills the hole for more add ons, compass is kool!

It's an ambient air temperature gauge ... not a thermometer. Big difference. In any event, get a compass.

ironoxide, ins't that rust....just kidding. There is an easy fix for the temp gauge if you want to keep it. I like having it, but many do not. E-mail me and I will tell you how to move the sensor so that it will be 100% accurate.

My understanding was that the gauge measured the intake air temp in the throttle body, that is why the reading is higher (hot motor). This is what my stealer told me.

He's wrong. The sensor is inside of the fairing above the headlight on the left side.
