Sure are a lot of BS assumptions going on here!
The guy just wants to remove his TP without the crappy looking "quick detach" option.
Harleypingman is always spot on. So you might have to have someone fab a bracket.
The bracket for the quick detach backrest is not all that bad and is not even noticable with the backrest installed.
I did alot of shopping around looking for a ridged mounted backrest also. I came up with zilch and had to buy the kit. My tour pack is sitting on a shelf in my garage incase I need it for a longer trip. Takes me less then 30 min to put it back on.
I added black quick detach to vivid black bike & you can hardly see it...also, I believe HD makes covers for the detach HW to make the rear look cleaner. Might be worth a look...
I have an Ultra with the detachable tour pack and only use the tour pack for packing for long trips. I liked the other features that came stock on the Ultra, vented lowers, cruise.

It won't matter what model you shop for since HD hasn't offered a rigid/permanent mount passenger backrest for the '09 and newer Touring models that have the new frame/rear fender. HD did offer a rigid/permanent mount backrest for the older frame/fender but discontinued it prior to 2004, opting for the detachable offerings.
Funny when someone with a Street Glide starts adding a tourpak and lowers, and he gets told he should have bought an Ultra and stripped it down. Here's a guy who wanted to do that and he gets told he should have bought a Street Glide. sheesh.
I love the look of UC's without the Tour Pak. If I ever buy that model (and it crosses my mind time-to-time) I would get the quick disconnect since I ride solo 95% of the time.
I do not mind the look of the posts on the RKC however and have all 4 so I can use backrest or the RK Tour Pak. Maybe it won't bug you as much as you think once installed.
That or have something fabbed up as suggested. Didn't a regular on here do a write-up last year on doing his own "quick disconnect" wiring, etc with full pics? I wonder if he devised a way to avoid using the posts/mounts as well? Just a thought.......
