They make a diffence! Not only in your comfort riding, but allow more clearance on the right side for the exhaust. They do compromise your lean angle slightly, so if you ride hard, your boards may scrape easier. Not only can you move them out, you can move them forward as well (especially if you are tall), and moving them forward will reduce scraping the boards on leans.
I bought the Kuryakyn extensions for my 09 Ultra after the first week of riding. With a size 15 foot they're a must have item. They moved the boards 1" out and 1" forward. I wouldn't be without them.
Sorry guys I might have gone with the ones from Harleygoodies, but didn't know about them at the time. I'm sure they're as good or better.
The only problem with the Kurys is the finish on the bolts have rusted a little, but you have to look under the boards to see it.
How much can you see of the product. I see they cime in black and chrome.
You have to get on your back and crawl under my bike to see them.I think the chrome ones are for those w/chrome floorboard brackets. They really do fit seamlessly.
I was reading another thread where many of you talked of floorboard extentions. Do they really make that much of difference (1") and are there different types or do several companies just make the same type product. Thanks
Huge Difference!
SOOS or HD Goodies. I bought the harleygoodies one from here on the Forum. When I 1st test drove an HD Ultra, my 1st thought/opinion was, my feet are way to close. I was not comfy, especially after I have been riding a Yammie RSV and Strat - which you feel like you are ready for the Gyno exam! I asked the peeps at the HD dealer I rented the UC from if they make anything that would extend those FB's out etc, they looked at me with a complete blank face, as if I just arrived on this planet. Once I got my '09 and found this forum and realized that I was not the only CRAZY person thinking the boards need to be moved out - I jumped all over the purchased of the harleygoodies one, and I have never been happier!!!

Someone mentioned you can move them up also, how far and how much difference does that make. Thanks for all the feedback and btw I just saw the HDGoodies page popup with the 15% member discount. Pretty good deal from what I'm reading here.
They are a simple and inexpensive mod that increases a rider and passengers comfort by repositioning their foot on the footboards. As for moving them up, do you mean vertically or forward? On '08 and earlier models there is a vertical adjustment of about 1/2". On '09 and later the footboard brackets are fixed and therefore there is no adjustment at all. Moving them forward would require a modified bracket which to my knoweledge is only available for '08 and earlier models. The MoCo offers an extended footboard pan kit that moves the footboard itself forward about 3/4". It is part #50409-04. The installation for both the footboard kit and extensions is easy with a few basic tools. The extensions may reduce your lean angle about 1* but you should also factor in your particular riding style. Some vendors mark up the price and then offer a discount others just have everyday low prices. It's all just a matter of personal choice.
