Considering we're all cash challenged, what do you think I could negotiate off of a 2011 RKC? $1,000 or $1,500 maybe. I live in Florida, anybody have experience with that state?
Only way to find out is go in to a dealer and offer them what you are willing to spend. What is the worse that can happen...they say yes. There are those who say you can not deal on a 2011 but that is not true. You do have to be ready to sign the papers if they agree to your price.
The experience I just had 1 week ago was they came off the MSRP about $300 and took off the dealer's prep and a couple other idems they had tacked on which amounted to about $800 total. They did give me $1000 in accessories and 20% off parts and labor. I checked 3 dealers and they were all about the same. This dealer also sold my old bike for me for no charge and they had the bike I wanted when it sold so I lucked out there. You can play one dealer against the other to a certain point too. They all wanted to match each other but would not out do the other ones offer, just match it. I'd say right now would be your best chance with it being the end of the year, It don't cost nothing to ask, go for it! Good luck to you too!
living in florida you're not as affected by the cold weather. i know that the salesman and dealerships become pretty aggressive in the cold climates, because while they're sitting on the new bikes in the showroom and it's snowing outside, too cold to ride, they have to drum up business. it'd be tough to sell a new bike in the middle of december/january up in minnesota you'd think.
How about Buying the bike in Montana, which has no sales tax on recreational vehicles!
Title it there with an LLC- Plates are permanent!
plenty of info online about how to set up an LLC.
take the sales taxes out of the picture and you have some real savings.
( and now you know why you see so many motorhomes with Montana plates)
I had some post Sturgis service done at Missoula HD- the owner is one of the techs!
They were offering free 103" upgrades on the left over 2010 Ultras

I have been dealing with Mt HD for years and it is a great place. Doug (the owner) mostly dinks around with his own stuff (Ducatis and Buells) these days, but is a great guy and fun to talk to and he and the GM C.J. treat people right. LLC's are big business here altho I have heard some states are making a big stink due to the lost revenue LOL.
