I just bought a 2nd hand PPC that has Garmin's Que GPS loaded on it, but the seller can't come up with the CD that has all the maps. From what I can find out, Garmin doesn't sell replacement CD's. Can anybody help? Thanks in advance.
may have wasted your money. you have to register the product to unlock the maps. unless he lets you use his name that matches with his unlock code you are out of luck.
Check Garmin's website. You may need the original purchaser's password if they registered the unit. If they didn't you maybe able to register the unit in your name and get unlock codes. You will probably need a unit number which on mine is inside the battery door.
Thanks, but there is no "unit" in the traditional sense. Garmin Que is a program by Garmin made to load onto a computer so that the computer becomes the "unit". What I need is the mapsource CD for North America.
Garmin has just released an update for the City Navigator North America NT v8, you could purchase it for $75.00 and have the best of the best if it works with your unit. I have a Quest II and it didn't come with the install disk for a computer, the garmin help desk people sent me a cd rom at no charge. You will need the unlock code (which is on the paperwork that comes with the GPS unit). Their helpdesk was awesome.
This is the update link they sent me. http://www.garmin.com/unlock/update.jsp I'd search their site for the software you need then ask them for it. If you have the unlock code paperwork your done, if not you'll have to buy the unlock code.
Try http://shop.garmin.com/cartography/m...techSource.asp and let them know about your needs. I'm sure they would be glad to sell you whatever software you need. There may even be an online download that will get you going.
