Default Throttle Question

I replaced the grips last night and everything went smooth. I checked the throttle and it snaps back into idle with no problem. But I also noticed that I can turn it a little the opposite way. Is this normal? I may have never noticed it did this before and was just double checking.

Thanks!

With the newer Harleys you can cut out the rear cylinder when idling in hot weather by turning the throttle past idle & holding it there for a few seconds...this is designed to help keep heat off the driver.

Wow, did not know that bit of info. I thought it was an automatic thing, if it was engaged through the ECM. I will have to give it a try tomorrow.

I use the roll forward to disengage the cruise control, around here, brake checks aren't really a smart thing.

So, short answer is, yes, it does roll a little forward.

All explained in the owner's manual under EITM (Engine Idle Temperature Management)

It is sometimes referred to as "parade mode". It came out with TBW. I know it's on the '09 and later and I believe it to be on the '08 as well. When the bike comes from the dealer the default is that it doesn't activate. Look in your manual to see how to activate it. Once it is activated it very easy to turn it on and off. It really does reduce the heat when sitting at idle. There is some kind of safety that you can't activate it unless the temp of the bike and the ambient temp have reached a certain temp.

My '06 Road Glide throttle would roll forward a little if forced, did not come to a solid stop.

Did not know about the newer TBW parade mode activation.I guess I should RTFM!
