Hi all, quick question on the harley official bag extensions, it says on my parts list that these fite 04>, i want to fit them to my 95 rk and wondered why they say 04> when as far as i am aware the bags and mounting system is the same from 93 onwards?
Hi from the UK! Hopefully someone who knows will call by soon. Harley is VERY conservative when it comes to saying what accessory will fit which bike years. So one answer is that it is probably very easy to fit them to your bags, with some minor adjustment of some sort. It seems very unlikely they cannot be made to fit. Have you asked your local dealer?
The product description refers to the extensions as being of the same ABS as the saddlebags (p/n for the lower bag provided in the description) and claims no repainting of the OEM saddlebag lowers or filler needed for precise fitment.
Older saddlebags are made of fiberglass, so perhaps the tolerances for those are not as tight as with the ABS injection molded saddlebag bottoms referenced in the product description; i.e. perhaps the fit of the extensions will not be perfect when installed on fiberglass saddlebag bottoms.
Just a hypothesis given the product description based on the fiberglass/ABS difference in the saddlebag bottoms. As mentioned, ask HD if you can find someone who knows for sure.
