I know this has been beat to death before but I am now in the markey for a new battery and am wondering what everyone is running in their scoots. I have an 04 EGC. Go back to HD battery or get one from another manuf. for a lesser price, but pay high S & H and then still be close to EOM cost in the end. Let me know.
Walmart's line of car batteries rated excellent in Consumer Reports but when I looked at a softail battery it was good price but not a gel. Like you I saw the mail order was about same price as Harley. A few even much higher but with all kinds of silly ratings that had nothing to do with cold cranking rating. I usually support my local dealer unless he's a lot higher. My 04's is still on it's first Harley replacement and it's still in good shape
My brothers shop sold Yuasa forever, he told me a couple of years ago that it seemed like they just weren't the same. Since then, he sells Deka, it's a good battery. My old High compression FXR has always been hard on batteries, I put in a Deka a year ago and have been pleasantly surprised every time I hit the button.
