I was misunderstood when I said the were the law! I meant that they are kick *** pipes. I am sure many of you like your screaching chicken slip ons and good for you but I have a couple of buddies who have them on 103 inchers like mine and I eat there **** EVERY time we get down and other than exhaust our bikes are comparable. I also did not like the sound from the SE pipes and wanted a TRUE dual system. If you lay into the Rineharts you will not hear any other pipe its got some serious growl and you can still cruise and be mellow. This is just my .02. The dyno numbers between the Rinehart and SE slip ons were close with the Rinehart a wee bit higher in HP and TQ at least the info I could find was. Oh and the look is un comparable as well, all of the SE slip ones that have had a few miles put on them have discolored as well! Buy the Bubs Rineharts enough said!!
I just went through all of this myself, and posted several questions here. Got some good info back too:
Here's what I wanted: 1. more power HP and TQ, but NOT ANY/MUCH Louder (Ouch, I know, but I'm the guy that doesn't like LOUD pipes)
Here's what the good folks here and my research suggested:
1. SE Air Kit
2. Go to your HD dealer and see if they'll let you listen to some. My dealer was a big help here.
I also learned that if you plan on any engine work down the road, the pipes you choose could matter, some allow engine mods, some don't.
3. If you plan to play around with mappings, have access to a dyno maybe, get the power commander or some such device.
I decided to go with the single slash cut SE's, no end caps required (they won't allow a big bore kit though) the SE's with the end caps would. I don't intend any engine work
for years.
I thought the coupld of V & H's I heard and the RineHarts were too loud for me, but the SE's I could live with.
My set up will be put on by the dealer on 7/8 320.00 for the slip ons. 140 for the air kit. 160 'ish for the remap, around 300.00 in labor. Total
of around 920.00 plus my 1000K service. I was also told that I could get the parts on-line cheaper, do the air kit and pipes myslef, and have the dealer do the remap and save myslef around 400.00 but I'm dangerous with a wrench.
I had SE slip ons my 04 electraglide and liked them but they blued after about 2000 miles. I changed and went with the Rineharts i love the look of the true duals and they sound and perform much better than the SE's. They also seem to take more heat away from the motor much more comfortable on long trips and sitting in traffic. Hope this helps i also had the stage 1 kit done.
I have Rineharts on my 05 RKC, they are awsome. They have some popping on the deceleration and in lower gears. Had a race feuler installed and the effect was the same no appreciable difference in popping but they do sound great. Go for the Rineharts.
wow guys lots of help here.you guys are kicking.....someone from my group just bought an 05 screamimg eagle electraglide.i heard the pipes(se pipes)..they sounded like stock pipes.not impressed...i realy have to hear the rineharts,,from whAT YOU GUYS ARE SAYING the rines sound like somthing i am looking for,but i still have to hear them..my dealer is prety cool with stuff like that..so its off to the daler for now.........thatks for all your help you guys rock.....................keep the shiny side up............
There is a big difference between the SE pipes and the SEII pipes (slip-ons and full sets) I believe the SE bikes come with the SE or SEI as some call them. The SEII's have the crossed flags and state theat they are not legal for the street. (As does the sir cleaner). They definitely are not the loudest pipes available, but they are loud and some of us really like them. Re: performance, mu understanding is that a full pipe change will almost always give more HP than slip-ons and 2 into 1's will give even more HP boost. There was an interesting article on this in one of the Motorcycle Mags (I think either Motorcycle Cruiser or American) sometime around the May issue. My .02 Art
