Default Trying for DIY toolbag

I am attempting to make a leather tool bag that resembles the Reda fuel canister. I want it to fit in the opposite bag of the fuel canister but incorporate the back angle of the saddlebag for storing tools. So far I am just at the cardboard stage but this is the idea as shown in the pictures. Planning on straps and buckles on back side for closing bag up while keeping the front clean for storage of other gear in the saddle bag.
I am wanting it large enough to store my Cruztools H3 tool set, electrical tools, tire repair, shock pump and air pressure gage as well as a few work towels.
This is my first leather project and it looks like the sewing is going to be a pain. Suggestions would be great as to how to make it easier. If someone knows if anyone else makes this please let me know, I have looked and havent found one.

Heavy duty sewing machine to get through the leather! My wife has a supposed "heavy duty" machine and it breaks needles every third stitch. Cut it out and take it to a dry cleaner and let them sew it together. They always have what is needed for sewing leather.

Get the pattern mocked up, then send it to Captain Itch for him to make it ...
Easy as pie.

Nifty idea too - good luck with it.

Wow!! Great idea!! Keep us posted, you might be on to something here..
As it is, I carry 2 tool roles (the stock one and my own custom one) plus 2 sets of allen wrenches, metric and standard.
I don't carry the reda though, never really thought that there was a need for it or seen the need for it at least in my neck of the woods anyway. I don't mind stopping every 1.5 hours and filling up..

I made a set of saddlebags 20 years ago, fully leather lined, and all hand stitched. They took me forever but came out awesome. Take your time. Maybe practice sewing on a piece of scrap first. The personal rewards are huge.
