Hey 0711, I'm looking seriously into the Autocom system for my '06 RG. The word I have is that it is the best available. Here in So Cal it appears that BMW dealers are the primary distributors, and I haven't seen any installed on Harleys. Questions:
How difficult was the install on your bike?
Which model Autocom did you get, and why?
Does it wire to the existing PTT button?
Any experience using the com system with a half-helmet?
Any other words of wisdom/advice would be appreciated. Thanks...
I have an older (two years) autocom - It is the middle of the road system - I had their earlier model and it was just OK - since I moved up two years ago it works just fine.. I run a full face so no exp with 1/2 helmet - call them direct - they are good people and take time with you... I would just order from them and Not from a BMW dealer - Autocom can answer questions better.... with true dual Rhine harts and freeway speeds we can talk just fine... Mic placement and ear placement is VERY important... These systems are Not cheap but I have found that anything less just does not work well.. I power mine off the Acces plug = I do not have a PPT so not sure about that??? again, call them with all questions...
If I had to quess - 1/2 helmets will Not work - no place to put the ear piece - 3/4 at best - full face the best...
