Default J&M Speaker Install - Problem..

So I went to install my new 7.25 J&M's today. The instructions state to remove the fairing, then to "unplug the speaker wiring from the stock speakers".

This would be a simple thing to do if the speaker wires weren't soldered to the speakers.

I have an 06 street glide. This isn't "plug and play" like I've heard.

Does anyone have any insight into this? Am I doing anything wrong?

What is the solution?

Thx!

Could you post a picture? When I removed my stock speakers they were plugged in.

If they are soldered then I would suggest getting a pair of wire cutters and cutting the wire just off of the speaker. Then go the Radio Shack and ask for Female Spade connectors that fit your new speakers (take one with you). Once you have the new connectors just strip the wire back about 1/8" and crimp on the new spades.

If you aren't the original owner, a previous owner probably had the wiring changed. From the factory, the speaker wires have connectors that push/pull to install.

...and nothing wrong with soldering to the new speakers, just mark the + and - wires ( hoping that the "solderer" had them right way around)
