Default New Hogtunes

Hi folks,

I just installed a new set of Hogtunes in my '05 Ultra, wow, what a difference! As some of you know from my post here, I don't get along to well with wrenches, but decided with my new maintenance manual to install the speakers. I won't have you laughing by telling you how long it took me to find those last two screws under the fairing Well, the instructins that came with the Hogtunes said to just take the wires off the OEM speakers and put them on the Hogtunes... It was a pain getting the old ones off and once off they sure didn't want to stay on the new speakers. It looked like there's a tab system on the wires where a metal tab holds the speaker wire onto the speaker, once pulled off, the tab doesn't grab anylonger. Anyway, I used needle nose plyers and squeezed the connectors on pretty good. Before I buttoned things back up, the speakers sounded awesome.

Now I've been riding for a couple of days with them and I"ve noteced that the left speaker's high notes (tweeter) seems to cut out every few seconds for a second or two. Almost like one of those dang wires might be loose.[:@]. Should I have replaced the speaker wires with new ones? Anyone even know what I'm talking about with the wire or the symptoms I'm hearing with the left speaker?

Thanks,
Joe

The wires are specific and should not need to be replaced. I think you need tomassage the connector a little more with your plyers. If the problem persists call Pez at Hogtunes for a possible replacement.

Did you repace all 4 or 2? The Hogtunes Web site says they are for 1998 & newer. I have a 95 Ultra Classic. Does anyone know what, if any, modifications are needed. Also, do I get to the fronts through the headlight or must I remove the Fairing? Thanks for your help.

I replaced all four, had to remove the front fairing (actually I didn't completely take it off, I removed all six screws and left the head light plugged in and the fairing resting in place) this allowed me more than enough room to replace the front speakers. The rear were much easier... On my 05, I guess Harley made the rear speaker boxes a bit smaller so Hogtunes has a newer (although smaller) speaker to fit the rear on the 05's.

Earlier I was saying that it sounded like the left speaker kind of goes in and out (just the high's is what I thougt. But, what I've noticed now is really this: With the MP3 player or CD's it sounds fine, balanced, not fadding etc... But when the setero is in use is when I notice the "fadding" almost like I'm going from stero to mono if you will. This seems to be true on the 7 or 8 stations I listen to. I've tried changing the radio from DX to LO and back, but it still does the same thing. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Joe
