I changed both the front and rear pads on my '09 somewhere around 29-30K miles. The front pads were done, the rear could have gone a few thousand more.

I bought a 2009 EG with 3k on it, it was a ex cop bike, when I got it home I took it for the Pa. state inspection and the rear brakes would not pass, the HD mech. told me before next inspection the fronts would have to be replaced, you would have not know by looking at the bike it is very clean, I guess that goes to show the cops use alot of brakes, other than pads and some slip on pipes the bike has been great.

I don't use my brakes much compare to some, but I engine brake alot more than some. My brakes last great, but I wear back tires out much faster than most without doing any burnouts. Brake pads are alot cheaper than tires. I guess I could save alot of money by changing my riding habits.

Went 25k on my 09 RKC before I put new shoes on her and still had some meat on the fronts.

I put pads on my 06 (stock but not brembos) when I changed wheels and rotors at about 24,000 miles. They still had life left in them but with new rotors i figured it was a good idea. I use stock HD pads and get minimal dust and no squeal and bike stops just fine FWIW.

I just changed them on my 08 SG with 25,000 it was time.
Also when the bike had 4500 miles on it the dealer had replaced my rear rotor and pads because the rear rotor was warped while the bike was under warranty.
