I have a 1999 Ultra Classic. Stock Ultra Classic Harley radio. Works great. It's a cassette, CB, Intercom and radio just like the newer ones. It has the hump on the tank with switches for CB and Intercom. Newer ones don't have the switches. Someday it's going to wear out. What are people doing to replace these. Can you just plug in a newer model. I still want intercom and all the options to work properly. Wouldn't mind getting rid of the hump on the tank. I'm sure someone has had experience with this. What to do?
HD's vendor for the radio/CB until 2006 model year was Radio Sound. Call their customer service and ask about updating what you have: (502) 267-6768.
Updating to the 2006 and newer Harman Kardon head unit can be done but the cost would be very high even buying used/ebay stuff; figure minimum $800, plus some wiring/connector modifications.
replacing my radio/cb at this time...2000 UC.. call radio sound( on website contact information); need VIN, mileage, numbers on radio and send the radio and check for 200.00 along with an authorization number they give you when you call. as soon as they get the check and radio, they ship a remaned...back to ya...they got mine on the 4th and the tracking number on UPS said i'll get mine back this afternoon....Easy.... no muss, no fuss....
When I bought my 98 Ultra, the radio had been upgraded. The original was in the replacement's box in the tour pack. I am holding the box with the original now.
Part number on the box is; 76146-04 Date 05/25/06.
I remember looking it up in the accessory catolog, seems like it was around $1100.00. Glad some one else bought it. Sure was nice having a CD player instead of cassette.
All of the functions on the console hump were now controlled on the radio. The switches on the hump had no effect.
I forgot to put it in the tour pack when I traded for my 08. Once I figure out if it works or not, looks like it will go on ebay. Came from a 95th Anniversary Ultra.
