If you have a Tour Pak, TBag's Roller Dekker is a good deal now. Was $319, now on sale for $159. It's being discontinued (at least that what I was told at TBag) http://www.t-bags.com/detail.aspx?ID=85&SelectedCat=3
Seems like a smoke'in deal!
By the way Dave, congrats on the new bike! What color combo did you get?
When I got our new Ultra I got the luggage rack and the bag that is made to be mounted to it. I have had T-bags in the past and although good bags the universal mounting always left something to be desired. I like the HD one mostly because it fits to the rack so well.
I use a large Ortlieb waterproof duffle on my luggage rack to hold my tent, sleeping pad, and sleeping bag. They come in three sizes and are absolutely waterproof. I looked at some of the bags from T-Bags, Saddleman, etc. and they are of great quality, but are quite heavy. I wanted to go light and minimize expense.
I have an image in my mind, from the replies so far, that some of you guys are travelling solo with more stuff than my wife and I carry! We get by with a Harley bag on top of the tourpak, mostly to carry any spare riding gear we are not wearing.
2nd to last trip was 3 weeks, 7000 miles ( incl Sturgis- so bought a bunch of shirts) carrying camping gear on a 15 year old 71,000 mile bike ( so lots of tools and troubleshooting stuff, along with cleaning supplies).
Last trip was only 2000 miles over 5 days, motels, so no camping gear---and on a low mileage year old bike----traveled somewhat lighter.
---although you may carry more rain gear

Not everyone has a tourpak, so need other options. I wanted the solo detachable tourpak but w/mounting hardware etc, I think I recall it was going to be over $1K and I didn't have that kind of cash. I bought a detachable rack and the Ultra Tour for about $300.
