I agree. No way would I let my stereo inhibit my ability to pack the bags and tour pack for a week long trip. To each their own is right. My Cyclesounds lids should be here on Thursday.

It is really nice to have 95% of the bags available for use still. I got the bags so I could fill them with stuff, like a lady with her purse. LOL. I'll get a pic of teh space available tonight so you can see the space taken up.
For the price of those lids + $$ to paint them,.......I'd just put lowers on the StreetGlide, and get the speaker boxes for the lowers.
How much are a set of used lowers ?? Plenty on EBAY in the $500 range. Might get lucky and pick up a flawless set in the correct color. This would then ADD a little value to the upgrade !!

Then you lose NO storage space !!
The other options is to wait for J&M's lower setup to come out with their 500W 4 channel amp. That will be available in a few months. For my ride, no lowers...and there is nowhere to put a big amp like that. There are plenty of options out there, that is for sure, but I love this setup.

Something like the J&M was what I was referencing !!
Vented fairing lowers with HD's CVO speaker boxes and 6.5" speakers works well. This is the thread with their installation on my '04 EG with the HK radio and Arc 125.2 amp:
Also, Rockford Fosgate has a new 4-channel, 300W amp (75W X 4) that's smaller than the Arc 125.2 (so it will fit in the fairing) and priced under $250.
As for more bass, good luck finding it on a bike going down the road unless you want to mount subs in the saddlebags or tour pak. This audio test by Hog Tunes provides a pretty good explanation of the loss of bass on our bikes:
