I thought I had it all figured out on getting HD Agitator rims for my RG, but it seems the rear 18" won't fit my slimmer swing arm. Could those of you that have updated the wheels on your 07 baggers post some pics of what you've got with sizes and if you had to do major modifications to make it work? It would be very helpful and much appreciated. Thank you,
I have an 07 rear end in my older Glide and the widest tyre I can get in easily with a 16" wheel is a 150. A 160 may just squeeze in with luck, without touching the belt. It may be possible to use spacers to move the wheel away from the belt for a bit more room, but that will also mean messing with the brake.
Something to take into account, when running close to the limit with clearances back there, is that tyres can be quite different in fitted width to what it says on the sidewall. My Avon Venom 150/80 is actually 153mm wide on my 3" rim. From what I've seen here on HDF some 160s can be even wider still.
Hopefully someone with more experience will call by soon.
I just bought new rims for my 07 RKCustom. I kept the 16x3.5 in the rear and went with the 18x3.5 up front. I kept the rear the same size because tires are generally cheaper for a 16. You cant really see the rear wheel any how and it wont mess with the speedo. Go with the bigger wheel up front because you can actualy see it. Just my $.02
