that cracks me up. The axle is black but the caps arent.
It looks like the black axle is nitride coated to combat corrosion and add a small amount of strength. I don't think it is black for the sake of appearance.
I was looking for a black flush mount axle as well and the best I could find was the Yaffe axle with the black contrast cut buttons/washer, it looks similar to the Performance Machine axle. I don't know why they did not leave a set without the contrast cut, that style is getting way over used on every part out today.
OK, I did find a black flush mount axle on fleabay. It does not say who the manufacturer is, so maybe some one has bought one and can comment on quality.

Polished stainless 12pt. is on my '09 RG.
Both have the "Bad As Hell" axle cap.
