I've done a thread search, and I think I've asked this question before. However I'll ask it again as I'm getting more serious about pulling the trigger and can't seem to find much about Carlini on here. I'm considering getting the 1.25 12" or 14" Carlini Flying Apes. I was sold on the 12" as I don't want my hands above my shoulders, but have recently started to question the height. The more I think about it and sit on sleds with apes I think the 14's might be what the doctor ordered, just not sure yet. My question is for people with Carlini bars. I'm curious as to what bar you have, what you had to do cable wise to make them work, overall opinion and ANY PICS? I'm also thinking about getting blems as I will save $100. Am I taking a chance on blems? Reason for the 1.25 and not the 1.5in bar is width. I'm only 5'8" and like the 34.5" width over the 41.5" width of the thicker bar.

all i can say is carlini makes some bad azz bars i have seen the flying apes but i went with the eval bars 16s. but he does make them in other sizes very comfortable and good looking bars check out my sig picture those are my eval bars.
Carlini apes run a bit tall compared to Wild 1's. I had 16" wild 1's and got some 16" Carlini Flyin' apes for my ride. The Carlini's feel like 18" Wild 1's would as they do not curve down and back like the Wild 1's did. So figure they are 1.5-2" higher than the advertised height. If you want 14"'s I think 12"'s would be more like 14"'s.
I have some 16 Gangster Apes on my Road King and love them. I am 5'10" and they sit just about shoulder level maybe a little higher. I have a couple pics in my profile of them but need to take some better ones. They are the 1.5" and I get alot of comments on them. I dont see many on here or on the road either. Good luck with yours and dont forget the pics.
Just had Carlini 16" (1 1/2") flying apes put on my RK. I was worried about them being too tall. I'm 5'8" and didn't want to be reaching up in the air. When I ordered, I was told they run a little tall but I went with 16 anyway. Glad I did. I've only ridden home from the shop but I love the looks and the fit feels good. The grips are shoulder high. They are tilted back just a tad. Great bars. Sorry no pics yet.
I'm 5'6" and i went with the 12 inch Flyin Apes. As stated before the Carlini's run taller than advertised. I did quite a bit of measuring and studying before I purchased the 12's because I wanted a very particular position and feel due to some injuries that were causing me pain. The 12" bars are right at shoulder height for me maybe a shade above and I've got them pulled back a little because I don't have long arms. If I pushed them forward they would be a shade above my shoulders. Everyone is different but at 5'8" I would think the 12's would be right at shoulder height for you depending on how far forward they are and the 14's will probably be a shade above your shoulders. If you have long arms and push the bars forward you will gain more height so keep that in mind. Your seat height makes a difference as well. This was my third set of bars and they are great...right were I wanted them. I hope this helps your decision!
