Default Which SE ignition do i need ?

I have a '02 FLHT.
Looking to put a Screaming Eagle ignition on the bike. Carbed 88". Stock internals, with Arlen Ness big sucker & unknown name slip-ons with baffles removed.

My question is which part # do i need? I know some part numbers are discontinued & there was a difference in '01 & '02.

Should i also change the coil?

Your stock ignition should work just fine with what you have.
What are you trying to accomplish?
I'll have to look for the old part numbers (and that may take me little while), but they don't do much.
One retards the ignition 5 degrees for high compression and allows 7000 rpm limit (which you will never see).
One increases the redline to 6200 rpm.
Neither one of those is going to do much of anything for you.

I highly recommend the Daytona Twin Tec.
You can set the redline.
You can increase/decrease the steepness of the curve if you want.
You can increase/decrease the initial timing.
Its plug and play and easily programmed if you ever end up getting tuned on a dyno.

Nothing wrong with stock ignition.
Tried google, everything i find seems to be for efi bikes.

What brought this about (kinda long story, sorry)... was i had talked to a friend at the local bike shop (custom shop, not h-d dealer) about a big bore kit install. I told him i was looking to do a basic 95" SE kit or a S&S 97" kit.
The main reason for the big bore was that i wanted to swap to black jugs & heads (Although more power is nice too).
My bike is a black FLHT with silver engine, which kinda clashes cosmetically to me. I have the full Kuryakyn chrome cover kit, so i can live with what little bit of silver shows on the lower end.
Of course if i am gonna swap heads (to black) he was recommending i have them ported/ polished. He was gonna see if he could find a stock set of black heads for me to get reworked & just trade with me for my silver ones. Also with 22,000 mi, he recommended cam upgrade, pushrod replacement & new style hydro tensioner. He recommended a thunderslide kit for stock carb & a Screamin Eagle ignition.
From what i hear this is a pretty average set up.

By that point we were up in the $2000 range, and above my budget right now.
He said if it were him he would go ahead and upgrade cam, put on a SE ignition box, and do the Thundersilde kit. He said difference in power/ throttle response would be pretty noticable. (But i would still have a silver top end!)...

If i understood correctly, the main reason for the ignition box was to correct the timing after the cam change.

Am i way off track here?...

I use the SE programmable ignition module on one of my bikes. I'm not sure if it's even available anymore. It's the one with the hand held controller that you plug in to change things. It has an adjustable initial advance timing, several ignition curves, and adjusts the rev limiter. I've run it 5 1/2 yeaars in an '02 with a lot of work to the motor. I don't think you'd gain much on a stocker. They have another S.E. ignition module that simply raises your rev limiter to 6200 rpm. I don't think that one changes the initial advance or ignition advance curve, I think that one is less than $200.00.
