roadglide bars on streetglide

look in the parts and accessories catalog and you'll see that the bottom section of the bars where they clamp to the steering head is much wider on the streetglide. if you tried using roadglide bars on a streetglide they'd crash in to the gas tank. look at how wide the electraglide bars are compared to the roadglide bars at the base like mtclassic mentioned.

why is it so different if both bikes have the same tank and front end? Is there a different bar that is more straight like the roadglide that I can use? It just dont make much sense to me that they wouldnt fit but Im glad I asked before buying.
