I got my Glide back in 05 and put a Sony stereo in with the biketronics kit. Well (as that was 6 years ago), I think either time or vibration (or both) have caused the stereo to fade. It's great at speed for about an hour, but then it seems to overheat and I can't hear anything.
Since Sony stopped making car stereo's, I was wondering what people's suggestions were, what they were using now? Can a different stereo work with the biketronics kit (i.e. use the hand controls)? Should I just look at getting a mini-amp instead, or maybe just get a nice set of headphones/earplugs for my Nano?
Glad you pointed that out! Last time I went to Audio Express they told me Sony pulled out of the car stereo business. I guess they were just saying that because they stopped selling them and wanted me to buy something. I could've sworn though at one point I looked at the Sony site and didn't see anything.
They have some cool stuff now, the ones that hold the iPods are pretty nifty.
Well Biketronics is still in business and still using Sony, They should be able to help you out. The hand control interface work with quite a few different make radios.
I installed a Sony Marine grade radio about 6 months ago. I love it. I love the USB input and the ability to adjust the sound out put is much better than stock. Biketronics was very helpful in my choice and I still have the ability to use my hand controls.
I saw those on the Sony site last night after IBHarley's comment! I almost got as excited as getting a lap dance from a stripper!
Seriously, that looks bad ***! How well does it work for you? Any issues with sound or anything like that? I have a Nano (actually I'm a walking Apple ad; iPhone, newer Nano, older iPod classic and Shuffle! The classic needs a new battery and the Shuffle was a gift from work though). But I'd love to be able to just plug in my Nano and go, I'm getting sick of creating mp3 Cd's that only hold 145 songs on them!
Biketronics has the only kit that has the AVC,.......automatic volume control. But, other than that, I would assime that they all pretty much the same.
