welcome home! i am still about 55 days out from returning to the states, so i feel your pain! lol! all good advice here, basically, "what if?" your bike to death, fix all potential dilemmas, and enjoy your scoot! i cant wait to get back on my girl (i was talking about my bike, but, i will get on her too.......) and see some of the country i have been missing.......

ride safe man, dont be one of the armed forces statistics, made it through a rotation, and got hurt at home. take it easy until you get the feel for her again. and enjoy!

RLTW!

Good job getting back safe from a former 11B/54E!

One thing most take for granted:

I know you're going to want to get on it and let her rip, but don't forget the brakes! Sometimes piston stick and o-rings leak. I suggest a quiet street and a few low speed, straight line hard braking runs, then check for leaks.

Also, get out to a parking lot and practice a few quick stops and obstacle swerves as soon as you can. It would suck to see you hurt statewide after spending so much time in the dirt.

I'd check the whole bike over pretty good. Give it some fresh oil all around, engine, trans, and primary. You may want to drain the gas and fill it back with some fresh. If you have added stabil it still needs changed out. Stabil is only good for 6 months and E-gas for about 30 days. It will smell funny and run like crap if you don't change it. Crank it, let it warm up real good. Run it around a parking lot to check all functions, shifting and braking. Put it up over night go back and check for any leaks from dried seals. As long as everything works likes it's supposed to go for it.

Also take it easy till you get the hang of it again. I was a little rusty myself.

Welcome back.

Welcome back, and thank you much for your service!

The gas that's in there is going to be real crap. I'd drain it rather than run it through.
