Default Average Miles for a rebuild.

Can anyone tell me what the average miles are for a rebuild? I was thinking about 80,000 miles.

Lots of variables here: What model? Twinkie? EVO? Or something older? Normal riding? Or two-up with a sidecar pulling a trailer? Good maintenance or crappy?

On an EVO at 80K I think at the very least you're gonna need to consider a fresh top end: Rings/pistons/valve job. Probably would be a good idea to swap the stock cam bearing over to a Torrington if it hasn't been already done. But if the cylinders check out using a compression test and then do a leak down test to check the valves...Ride it till she starts burning oil.

There was a story in The Enthusiast years ago about a guy that put over 300,000 on an EVO. Rumor was The MoCo 'bought' the bike back from him by giving him a new one. Urban Myth?

How can you answer a question like that ? Everyone treats bikes different. Every one rides different. Some beat the crap out of a bike, others ride easy.I had 76000 on my 93 Evo. Regular maint. & still running strong. Another guy I know, NEVER changes his oil, so does that count when it is toast at 50k? Seems to me it is just a loaded question to stir the pot.
