I've seen them painted on Vivid Black and they look sharp.
I've seen them, and they do look great, just not as noticeable than all the other colors. If I could get it done for $300 installed, I'd do it. I never come across any deals like that where I live. $250 plus shipping on eBay, then the installation. I've pulled the outer fairing off before, and removed the gauges, but never any further than that. Looks like a real pain to pull the stereo, deal with the wiring harness, etc. $300 installed is a real deal.
Shore - is it Paul from Jacksonville coming to do yours? If it is, you will be pleased. Great work, great guy. Tell him Jon in Orlando said hello. If it's not Paul - never mind.
BTW, mine's not vivid black. It's black pearl. And painting the inner still makes a HUGE difference. Especially if your inner starts to fade. Probably my favorite mod, and great bang for my buck.
Florida riders - PM if you need Paul's contact info. And no, I have no interest in his business. I just think he's a straight-up guy who does good work.
Yes, it is....lol. I was going to ride up to st aug but sat is gonna be rainy...I offered him some extra gas money and my garage.
Sounds like a good guy and his work looks very nice. Apparently, he knows his paint.
Like I told him, this certainly is not above my skill level to R&R, but the chances of a chip or scratch from a 1st timer are just not worth it for this price. Plus, that's a pretty complex part to paint correctly. It's a piece that is right in your face so it has to look right.

The inner is the 1st piece in that puzzle of wires and brackets. I did all gauges a couple times and they where simple. Harley gets a small fortune to do the inner removal and replace.
I am NOT a wrench...but I do have a little mechanical apptitude, and can read the service manual. I changed out the inner, replaced all the gauges and speakers, added the garage door opener, and sent the radio out to have the light color chassnged....it really wasn't very difficult, just took a little time.
