The problem i got is i'm all set for leesburg and this is putting me in a bad way. I really dont want to have to rent a bike for the trip.
Push for a total, then you go on a new bike!!Use words like "diminished value" and a letter from any dealer stating, if known the bike has a lesser value because of the crash.
Dang Cagers......Sorry to hear this story...happens way too much - something like 85%+ accidents happen at 11 and 3 o'clock position but glad for your safe outcome. Nice RK btw - as mentioned in other post go over bike head to toe yourself and make sure everything feels right...put the responsibility back on dealer if it doesn't feel right to your satisfaction.
I think the correct number for a total loss is 75% of value.
If a bike is worth $20k...damage was up to $15k...it would be repaired.
Recently, my buddies indy shop did a crash repair on a SE Ultra.
The insurance company wrote the check, some $17k in damage.
The bike still booked over $25k.
Glad your okay brother. Got into a little fender bender in Feb. Bike is still at the shop. Waiting for two more parts from HD. Sucks but my bike will be sweet when I get it back.
I too have a trip in April so I better have it back in time to be knuckles up.
...WOW!...amazing how much miss information is floating around about insurance...and totaling vehicles...ins companies can total anything they want..anytime they want...and they can also fix em, up to a nickle before hitting NADA high retail if they want....I do it it for a living in Mass.....if a Harley is worth 15K...it would probably be totaled when the repairs hit about 10K..because don't forget..these newer bikes bring good salvage bids...so 10K repair..plus 5K salvage = total loss to us...and as far as frame swaps?...do em all the time...it's about $2800 to do one at a dealer...ins co's can pretty much do what they want...they have plenty of lawyers, politicians...and money to back em up...glad it worked out the way you wanted it to...
