Battery recommendations, please?
My 02 RKC has the original battery and seems to be fine but I'd like to replace it before it leaves me sitting away from home on a "bad weather" day. I am also going to employ heated clothing to extend my riding season. Is there a more powerful battery than the stock one I might look at? Opinions?

I still have the original battery in my 2000 Ultra. Have a good battery tender that desulfates (is that a word?). Saved me buying a new battery two years back. For what it's worth.
I'll chime in here.............stock sealed battery is the way to go. Get a battery tender and keep it hooked up. Your heated clothing will not be an issue with your battery or charging system unless you are running lots of lighted accessories. If that is the original battery, and you are concerned about it surviving the Winter, buy a new one.
Remember the old batteries we had to maintain with distilled water? I got so used to replacing them every two years or sooner, that I became paranoid about the longevity of the sealed ones........pretty common malady.
Thank heavens the sealed units have a longer life.......and the battery tender extends that life.

If you're looking to comparison shop, Yuasa makes lots of OEM batteries. (Remember, HD doesn't make their batteries, they buy them from a third party--like Yuasa). You won't notice any difference in quality, but with some shopping around you might same enough over the HD brand to make it worth your while. They're the top name in aftermarket batteries so most any independant shop will have them in stock or be able to get one in a couple of days. http://www.yuasabatteries.com/
You can also go really cheap (like if you plan on selling the bike and don't want to put extra $$ into it) at Walmart. They sell bike batteries in their auto dept.

I would go with a HD,Yuasa,Odyssey etc. if it's a keeper.
