Default jack question

Where do you guys position your jack under the bike for the best balance. Or do you set it a little heavy towards the back and strap the front

what you are doing will work. i let the left leg of the jack go between the riges of the crossmember or right in the middle of that bar. it is a pretty good balance if not jacking too high.

Set the rear jack beam in FRONT of the frame crossmember....have never used a strap....put the jack in from the left side....works best for me!

I use the craftman series jack, but the crossmember is to narrow. So the jack sets on the ridges of the crossmember and the front frame tubes. I use one strap through the transmission area. I have to go from the right side with the jack, and one two-by-four of wood under kickstand so that I can slide jack through. This works good for me when I wash the bike, and I just got done replacing the back tire. 06 Ultra Classic

I use the Kobalt lift, got it from Lowes. Roll it under from the left side with the bike resting over on the side stand. The rear jack beam goes inside the the frame cross member. Stabile and well balanced, no straps.
