A less expensive option than Hogtunes is the JBL GTO527 2ohm, 45W Rms, 5 1/4" Speakers - about $45 a pair on ebay. These speakers put out way better than the stock paper cone crap that is standard with the Harmon Kardon system.

Question...why doesn't HD announce these radio updates?
I only find things out from this forum...thank goodness.

I asked the service manager about not being able to read the MP3 song titles with the upgrades, he then asked the sales manager who actually rides a Touring bike. He said he didnt think that the MP3 that were burned would display. Funny on how a pioneer cd/MP3 player in a 12 year old truck can read the MP3 titles and display them. I burn all of my own personal "Hawg Tunz" to listen to so maybe that is the issue. But they all show up on my pioneer stereo in my F350.

For all those interested...
v8.11 update addresses the following issues to the internal firmware...
This software is intended to correct the following conditions:
CB Modulation–
It is possible for the radio circuitry to revert from international (HDI) configuration (FM) to domestic (U.S.) configuration (AM) at key off.
An upgrade of the radio's software to v8.11.0 will remedy the condition affecting CB modulation on the Advanced Audio System and ensure regulatory compliance for Western
Europe and Korea.
Clock Accuracy–
Some customers have experienced issues with clock accuracy (gaining time).
Phantom Speaker Codes–
Technicians, when troubleshooting with Digital Technician, have experienced phantom speaker codes B2007 and 2010 where no fault exists. All false diagnostic codes have been addressed in the v8.11.0 software.
Updating the radio receiver from early software versions (v6.8.0 through v8.9.0) will prevent all of these potential faults and make the receiver compliant with international regulations requiring FM modulation on citizen band radios. Update software will be posted on the Internet (www.harley-davidson.com) by September 28, 2006 for either customer or dealer access.
Cache..... If you go to the link posted above by tbradley, it is updated as the need arises....
Your dealership MUST do this free of charge, and as an example, at our shop, when an Advanced Audio System equipped bike comes in, that is one of the things that MUST be done, as it is a requirement from HD, as are updated STOCK ECM/ICM updates....
If the bike isn't being hooked up to Digital Tech or the Svc Writer isn't checking the currently installed version of your H-K System, they are doing you an injustice.....

Thanks Bob for for providing the details of what these firmware updates do. I did the 8.11 update just to keep current but really wanted to know the "why".......I had the clock issue of gaining about 2 minutes a month so it will be fun to see if the engineers got it corrected with this update.
