Default Oil Temp. Gauge

I picked-up an oil temp. gauge today. It will replace the ambient air temp. gauge that HD felt that I needed. Any one out there install one of these? I returned the HD temp. gauge, as it requires cutting an oil line, putting in a "T" and attaching the temp. sensor to it. These hoses are under a side cover, which will not go back on the bike once the install is completed (as stated in the instructions). I swapped it for an after market one, whose sensor threads into a plug hole under the bike in the oil pan. A much "sweeter" set-up. Install on Sunday, should go much smoother that the HD style.

I have been running one for almost two years now... better than air temp any ole day... I used the Rodger McEwan - he is the maker of most all the guages that other people sell. I deal with him direct... great guy..

That's not quite true, the cover goes back on rather easily actually.

I have installed a handful of the HD gauges & it is a PITA to put that T in, but when you're done it works better than the pan sensor setup.

I put the HD gauge in but I bought a bushing and placed it in the Oil Pan. Works fine and I maintain the HD gauge look.

I installed the HD unit using a bushing in the drain plug as well. Worked great and probably a much easier installation. The gauge also matches the others. I bought the one from Wally's first and sent it back when I noticed how much different it looked from the other gauges.
