Default Removing a Cat?

I'm putting together the pieces for a Stage 1 upgrade to my 2011 RGC, which includes a Screamin Eagle air cleaner, Dynojet PCV, and FuelMoto Jackpot 4" slipons. I was toying around the idea of replacing the factory headers with aftermarket headers, more so to address the engine Heat issue, and less so to add a little extra power. I hear that many guys doing a similar Stage 1 upgrade keep their factory head pipes and address the Heat issue by removing their cat.

For those who have done this, how did it turn out for you?

Where is the cat? Is it where the headpipe mates the engine, or where the headpipe mates the muffler?

Anything special to becareful of when removing the cat?

Try the search feature. There are tons of threads regarding the cat, its removal, welding stock header metal, is it a good idea, is it a bad idea, warranty issues. It's all out there.

I went with the Fuel Moto 2-1-2 head pipe. The pipe fit perfect which made the installation easy. Plus you end up with the added bonus of being able to restore the bike to stock if you need to.

Type this in search, removing cat is easy. Yes the Fuel moto headers fit,, but the heat sheilds will not fit as good as stock.

A little muffler wrap takes care of the heat shield alignment.

pull tour right slip on off and look inside your right side headpipe and you can see your cat, im not sure how long it is though. I bought a set of 09 headpipes for my 2010 egc and some 4" jack pots. sounds much better and got rid of alot of heat. I have read on here of peaple cutting there headpipes in middle of cat and drilling it out, look it up, tells you all about it. good luc either way.
