Bottom line, The bag coming off was your fault or someone who had it off and did not install properly. No way a bag is going to jump off its just not going to happen. As to your missing on one cyl. I have read about 1 or 2 bikes with bad crank positoning sensors quitting or running on one cyl. that could be the reason.

Thanks for the info Blueglide88. I'm a Certified Automotive Master Technician also. My last bike was a '02 Ultra, I did all my own maintenance 'cept for the items requiring special tools. Traded it in on an '06 Ultra and have been letting the dealer do all the maintenance on it to keep from voiding the warranty. Until this weekend when I couldn't stand giving the dealer any more of my money for a simple service. All I needed was a minor service. So I did it myself. I recorded the milage, but will copy the page like you said and keep it with my records. And I agree with Richard, HD's current system is early 80's automotive technology. And I love it, basic, simple and it works.

Hello, This is my first post. I am also a 25 year master tech. as far as servicing your own do a google search for the "Magnason Moss" warranty act of 1979. Basicaly it says they can't require you to use their services unless they are free. You still need to provide receipts for the parts. They can still deny you, but you would have to take them to court. I printed off a copy to show them when time comes.
