No beard here but the lower tree deflector and the deflectors for the bat wing worked for me with regards to air coming up around the tank.

Well, I picked up the deflectors at the dealer today. Put them on in the parking lot and tossed the box in the trash. Rode home and took them back off. They make a difference, but they don't solve the problem I bought them for. With my feet on the floorboards, everything is great. But I ride with my feet on the highway pegs all the time. So, the air is still coming up my legs and blowing my beard straight up. I'll either have to shave, or come up with something else.

I'm gonna put them up for sale for $50 shipped, if anyone wants them. They were only installed for about an hour. They're in perfect new condition, except where you bolt them on. The bolts left a mark on them, but the marks will be under your bolts as well.

If anyone here wants them, drop me a PM. Otherwise, I'll take pics and post them in the classifieds later.

Just a tip..

.
So where were you with this tip in '06? The fork deflectors will definitely mar the underlying chrome. The only plus to that is that you know exactly where to reinstall them each fall.

I think a klockwerks windshield would keep your beard from blowing up. It flips the air up. I had an 8.5" it was a little tall, I'm 5'8", so I just installed a 6.5". This combined with the adjustable bat wing deflectors makes a huge difference.

As far as the legs... I don't know.

My beard goes straight up and this season that is a problem b/c it is not long enough to block my vision.
I have an Ultra so it came with the deflectors. So they don't seem to be helping to keep the beard down.

I have an 8" LRS Ultra flip for what that is worth.

I gotta trim about 3" or find a way to keep it down. Don't want to put a punch of rubber bands in it.

Oh, and those center deflectors are supposed to be only for winter riding. Otherwise they say it is bad for the bike. Gets too hot?

Put the Harley brand fork deflectors on my Road King and cured all the updraft around the tank!

Had a 03 Road King, had the same issues, ended up with TT Baffle, side fork deflectors then added a detachable batwing and lowers, rode fine save for behind semi's as the buffeting would steer me all over. Did no longer have the wind and spray in my face from across the tank and had ZERO engine heating issues, point in fact the fill plug temp gauge actually showed cooler with all three than had with all open.

On a Roadie RGU now, best ride I have ever had, not looking to go back ever.

Older thread but I will comment since it has been resurrected. This! I have a 2009 FLHTCU with a stock height LRS Flattop windshield, TT baffle and aftermarket deflectors on the forks that were made to work with the lowers. All is great with the feet on the boards but as soon as the feet go on the highway pegs it's wind up the legs, up the torso and under the chin.

Well of course. Stick your hand strait out at highway cruising speeds and you start to understand the force of aerodynamics. Short of using a barn door for a fairing, motorcycle manufacturers are limited to they move air around the rider and still call their product a motorcycle. I have to laugh at how far some riders hang their feet out on their pegs.

I don't have a long beard but definitely know what you mean about wind following your legs up and buffeting you when using the highway pegs on a street glide. Because I was painting my bike anyways I took the opportunity to order some after market vented fairing lowers. I had them painted at same time and installed. They are very nice for getting rid of alot of wind and i have noticed that now when I use my highway pegs there is no difference in amount of wind hitting me. So I am planning on leaving them on for now. I should have bought an Ultra and took off what I didn't want. HAHAHAHAH
