Default 10 Weeks Today

My 2008 has been at the shop waiting on reman motor 10 weeks today, yes 10 weeks. I ride a lot 77,600 miles when the bike was 32 months old in December. I get frustrated more everyday but what can I do.

Harley and the dealer admit mistakes but my bike is no closer to runnning than 10 weeks ago. Harley Customer Service stated they were going to give me my next service on them. Do I dare take it back????? Yes I have the ESP and maybe thats the problem, maybe not as much profit in it for them so they don't care.

Harley and the dealers lack of communication to me is a major problem as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not sure if other manufacturers have the same problems, but I may have to look around. I love my Harley but what does looking at a picture of it do for me. I'm not riding and it cost me more to drive the truck everday. I pay for motorcycle insurance for what a paper weight I don't have.

This is getting fricking old, sorry for the rant. Breath deep, hold, exhale, kick the neighbors fricking cat, look at the pictures of all the places I have visited on my bike. Hoping, waiting, hell if I knew it was in a truck coming back to Texas I would be in a better mood.

Jerry

Also I know what the movie Network was about " I'm mad as hell and I'm not taking it any more". Give me my back bike back running NOW.lolololol

Smile Finally

After 10 weeks and 1 day I got an email today from the dealership telling me my motor has finally returned from the reman shop to the dealership. They state I will be riding by the weekend. Let's hope they got my engine back and not someone else's.

Hopefuly happy days will be returning soon.

I can't speak about remaning a twin motor, but i had an Evo done about 6 years ago. It took them about two weeks start to finish to do the job. I don't think they actually rebuild your motor, but have a stock pile of rebuilt ones with new cases. When yours shows up they stamp your numbers into the new cases. The reason I say that is the new motor had the numbers in a different spot, then where the original numbers were. If you had any hi-perf parts like cams, or heads in your old motor, they're lost. You will get a 100% stock as it originally left the factory motor back.,,

I'm not sure if you get a new reman motor or if they actually reman yours. I hopefully will be able to find out when I pick up the bike.

Why would it matter whose motor you get? It is taken back to totally stock, like when it was new. The only thing that matters is if the numbers are the same, which they will be.

I think the Re-man info is in the parts catalog.
or on the web: remanufacturing

they used to have a video on it, didn't see that this time, but didn't look very hard either. there is a link for all the pricing as well, and you can do upgrades (96 to 103, etc)

Default Well Finally

After 11 weeks I picked up my bike Saturday. Now don't ask me how but according to the dealer, Harley Davidson felt bad about losing my motor and it sitting at a warehouse somewhere so to make up for it instead of a reman 96 I was given a 103. No charge to me for the up grade.

I'll say this you can definetly tell the difference between the motors. Not only is the sound different but the 103 has more power to it. From the take off it is very noticable.

I still want answers to how a 2 week program becomes 11 weeks and I'll let everyone know what they have to say IF I get any answers. As far now I rode 175 miles Saturday and had a blast.

A free upgrade to 103"? For not being able to ride in the WINTER?!? Sounds like a great deal to me!
