Return them. Swap for short angle. If they don't have a return policy, don't spend another red cent in there. Put'em in the for sale section here or on ebay.
I wish I would have checked with you guys first before I bought them. I just read the description that H-D had and it said they were for tall riders and would reach around the lowers, so I bought them. I cannot return them now, because it is obvious that they are used, especially since I tried so many times to mount them, plus, i rode with them a couple times. I am going to try to return them and if they do not take the return, which I don't think they will, then I will stop giving them my business. I did not buy the bike there, it is just they are the closest dealer to my home.
Here is a copy/paste from the H-D add. Kinda misleading, ain't it?? The catch phrase in the add is that they "reach back and around to clear the lowers". $#!T.
Stretch out for added comfort. This chrome-plated Adjustable Highway Peg Mounting Kit can be set for shorter riders, and it can be reversed to reach far forward for those with long legs. The angled design allows the arm to reach back and around to clear fairing lowers. The arm can be raised and lowered for a custom fit. The mounting clamp firmly grips the engine guard, and the locking design secures the peg at the desired angle. Kit includes chrome-plated mounting hardware. Footpegs sold separately.
Sell them to somebody who doesn't have lowers (RK, RG, Eglide Classis, etc) I have a 32" inseam and mine fit perfectly on my road glide. Don't know if you can tell how mine are mounted from the pic....
larry5h, you are 100% correct. not enough beer. i am sitting on an oilwell drilling rig in vietnam right now. no beer at all. i will be home the 13th and that problem will be over.
bg weisel, thanks for the pic. looks like you have the answer. either sell them to some one who does not have lowers or a midget that has does have.
