Default FLHRCI and K&N / mapping?

Hi,
on my FLHRCI `00 with Kess-Tech-Pipes i have the stock air filter (# 29462-99 ). Now i want to replace it with the K&N (#HD-8899).

Reading through the Forum, one says "No need to remap", next one "You have to".
Well, do I need a new setup?

If you do one or the other there's no need to remap. If you do both it's gonna run lean on you thus the remap.

The bike starts out lean from the factory, so it will be worse after the mods. Definitely requires a tuner. You will hear people that say no, but the bike will run better after the tuner is installed.

Mike T and mjb765 are both correct.

If you do one or the other, unless you were really lean to start, you should not need to remap; but... there are some cases where the bike was too lean to start. From my personal experience if you do both, even though it is just a drop in filter, remap. Like mjb765 said, the programming tends to be lean to start, so adding both mods, especially if you go up to a stage I, you will end up really lean without a remap. Plus the mods work that much better with a remap.
