Question loc tite question

The instructions for the delux tour pak hinges call for red loctite .This is nonremovable. Just curious if anyone used something other in case you need to remove lid at another time.

It will be possible to remove it, just a little tighter, I would use the blue locktite, and check the bolts later.

Red's not "nonremovable", just more difficult. But then it holds better too.

Red will remove with heat but then the tour pak may melt!

I'd stick w/the red - don't want anything coming loose on your TP. It's removeable later, if necessary (agree w/other posts).

Keep in mind that with red it is not good on smaller bolts, reason being that they will more than likely strip out before u can wrench them free. And yes heat is usually required, so use caution where u use it!

I have actually done this procedure and all I can say is take your time and be careful. Make sure you line up everything before you start. Thread the bolts in and take them out before you apply the loctite and then thread them back in. Be very careful drilling the rivets out because it can generate a lot of heat and actually melt the old hinge to the tour pack. Good luck and take your time.

Permatex thread locker has two reds. One more permanent than the other. I use red on everything...

A little dab'll do ya!

I have been using red loc tite on stuff for 30 years and never have had a problem removing it. I used the red on the tour pack latches and just for giggles I went out and no problem loosening the one I tried. It don't take much.
