after hearing about throttlepak here, i bought one.
it has added MUCH enjoyment when twisting the throttle now. just like having cables again!
my 13 streetglide is the first bike i've ridden with TBW. i hated it. couldn't figure out why shifting gears was so clumsy, just lousy throttle response in general. searched on this forum to see if there was some sort of adjustment, and asked at the dealership.
saw someone's post about the throttlepak, researched it, but was not crazy about the price. seems high for such a simple elimination of throttle inconvenience. BUT i actually disliked riding because of the discomfort of the throttle response. saw one used on Ebay, ordered it. installed it.
the difference in throttle operation is FANTASTIC. i actually enjoy twisting the throttle rather than dreading it. i'm sorry if i sound over-enthusiastic, but for me, it DID eliminate my aggravation with the throttle, and add enjoyment when twisting the throttle.
one of few purchases that actually felt it was worth it !!
p.s. i'm surprised more TBW owners aren't complaining
I;m glad you're happy with it.By far that's the best enthusiasm we've had in here over the V&H Throttlepak and I meant it in a good way.
I got to ride the bike a bit more today and yes,the throttle is much crispier and gear shifts feels much in sync. It's a reasonable price to pay for that essential difference.
I did a short ride out of town with some buddies. It's a nice scenic ride by the beach and of course we stopped for some fresh coconut drink just to cool down.As usual we had a chat for about 20 minutes and geared up to head back to town.Started the bike and it kicked right up as usual,Got into gear and throttled up and guess what?there was no throttle!! i knew this had something to do with the throttlepak.Looked at the meters and saw the engine check light lighted.Switched the ignition off and carefully stuck my finger where the unit was stashed away, moved it a bit and also checked the socket that goes into the throttle body to see for any loosened socket. The socket was fine and snug but shook it a bit anyway.I thought I'd just try it again and started the bike. This time the engine check light went off and I had throttle again.Decided to ride back and it was fine all the way.NOW,I'm seriously worried if this is going to happen again somewhere in the middle of the highway or worst still when I'm midway overtaking a truck!! What do you guys think is the problem?
That honestly sounds like the good ole limp mode kicking in with the TBW. IMO you are going to have the limp mode issue regardless of the throttle pack being installed. I had the same thing happen while leaving one of the local watering holes soon after the install of my throttle pack, just did what everyone else does and wait a few seconds and restart, then off on my way. Have had about 5000 trouble free miles since then.

What limp mode?I didn't know it comes with this 'special' feature. How many times did this happen?I haven't taken the bike out since then but I sure hope it's not gonna happen again..really don't wanna ride with no peace of mind.I'd be doing a 150 miles ride up to my dealer on Monday for my first service and I was thinking of telling them to check if everything in proper order..I wonder how many of you here who is using the Throttle pak experienced this.
It's a feature of the bike itself, not the throttle pack. Do a search here on the forum, lot's of info about it. Dealer attributes it to the connectors of the TBW to the throttle body. I'm sure somebody can ellaborate better than me on it.

And that is a feature of the bike itself?seriously dude?Could you please elaborate?I'm all ears now.
I have a 10 FLXH with mods in the Sig. I have been disappointed with my throttle response for a while. I thought I was going to have to do more to the motor to get better response.
Just put this on yesterday and like the previous poster reported. the throttle works now. I am not waiting for the power to come on anymore. I don't want to go crazy and say its a whole another bike but the throttle feels like it reacts just as fast the the wrist now.
I love my throttle pack and hated the fly by wire feeling. I put this on my bike with only 200 miles on it new. I now have 5500 miles with no problems. It has never caused a problem. if it did, i am sure that i can just disconnect and put it back to stock on the side of the road, no issue

That's right,it's not as fast as a cabled throttle but a lit better than the TBW feel.
