How does lowering the rear play into belt tension.....oh lets say 1-2", I would think it tightens it or is it the opposite?
If the wheel axle is lower than the swingarm axle, it will tighten, if it is higher, it will loosen. The belt is at its tightest when the swingarm is roughly horizontal and those two axles are in line with the front pulley.
When lowered I reckon the belt will get looser.
You can check by lifting your bike, to allow the rear suspension to extend, to compare tension with when the bike is on the ground.

they build these things like a john deere tractor and then want to maintain them like a space shuttle..amazing

yes they do , but they do not get maintained like a space shuttle...My old 57 pan was 53 years old when hurricane ike flooded her out, It did not have half the issues these new bikes have...no dyno run problems, no head bearing issues, no how tight the chain should be etc....That being saiid, i sure like my 09 Glide
