Okay, call me stupid but on the link you sent all i see is a small plate with a rubber ball mounted on it. How does this replace the cradle that have?

The double socket ram arm that attaches to the small ball on back side of the GPS mount is removed along with the mount and GPS leaving a cleaner look (just the ball in this case)

Here's my take. This system mounts to the controls left or right. I chose the left, more line of sight. Don't think it is an "eyesore" anymore than a film cannister would be. It is hardwired to the bike ignition so it is on battery only when the bike is off. Has a neat little lock that keeps the gps from falling off. The little connector below the mount is for the ear piece and if I ever get off my butt and pull the tank to run the wire back so I can plug in below me it will be perfect. This is for a Quest but they make mounts for all kinds of units. My only regret was not adding the adjustable part to the mount (like $25) to adjust for glare if I need it. Just my opinion and for me it works great

Here's one look with the canister off its base
You can see that all that's there is nothing more then the ball and cap of the film canister with the exact length of cable's to connect to the GPS unit...

In the other shot is what is removed from the ball to get the clean look I was expecting
Also you can see mounting the ram mount under the clutch perch it is mostly unnoticed tucked away between the bars and cable...I would have probably been content with that look, but since wires were introduced I wanted something more pleasing to my eye...

What I had to do was drill a 1/4" hole into the cap in the center and then force it over the ball...Since the cap is a maluable rubber it went over the 1" ball and then reshaped it self around the base of the post for the ball...
One more thing is before you push the cap over the ball be sure you have the wires inside the 1/4" hole then slide it all over the ball...

I have the 1300 series on a Ram mount I paid about $35 for. It is pretty simple, just clamps on the left handlebar at the bend. The ball is the only thing left when I remove the GPS which spends most of its time in the car, and so the power cord goes with it.

When it is on the Ultra, it kinda hides the fuel guage a little but otherwise, it is just fine right there.

I sure enjoyed the GPS on my trip to Fort Worth, TX last spring.

I have the fairing mount, love it, very well designed (only $30). I leave the GPS on all the time, because I have my approx mileage per tank input. Plus, I keep it on km/hr, they have been cracking down on speeders here.

I had the Ram mount and never really liked the look or the placement. I know have the Leader brand and much cleaner, IMHO.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I've always used a nice chrome techmount mount with a flat base... and have velcro'd my GPS to it. Using velcro on the base instead of a specific mount configuration, you can use it for just about anything. I've never had any trouble using a mount this way. Less headaches, very solid, adaptable to just about anything (phone, ipod, gps... )... and has stood up to rain, 100+ heat for days, vibration, etc), and looks great on the bike without anything mounted on it as well.
