Ok I have now bought a Sony HD stereo and a Biketronics kit to install it with so the auto volume will still work (even though I think the Hawg Wired install looks better and will wind up getting the mounting hardware from them). What brand and size 6.5" speakers with adapter plates for the front and 5.25" speakers on the rear are recommended? This is for a 2000 Ultra if it makes any difference on mounting depth. This---> is the kind of sound I am looking for. LOL

I meant depth instead of size.

There are so many threads on audio here until I couldn't tell you where to start. Do a search of threads, decide what price you want to pay and what brand you like, and go from there. Your bike is a 2000 so you have a very wide variety for the front, anything from 5.25 to 7.25.

BTW I have a Hawgwired amp with J&M 7.25 speakers, sounds great and loud enough to hear clearly at 85, but I still may change it one day.......all a matter of choice.

Just my .02 but all in all what ive read threw the years is not to waist to much time, energy, money on rears as you really wont hear them. The fronts are the most important.Unless you spent some big bucks on rears with amp(s)they arn't worth the effort. Good luck with you sound search!!!! Tim.........o~`o........

I also just installed a Biketronics Sony setup on a 08 StreetGlide. I'm using Titan Hertz 6.5 inch speakers in the fairing with a ARC mini amp. IMO better bass response and sound than the J&M 7.25 inch speakers. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I will have the rears hooked up anyway and the factory speakers won't match the stereo ohm rating and will cause issues. Correct? I am planning on adding an amp as soon as the Rockford Fosgate amp is released in a couple of months (4 channels 75 watts rms)so right now I just want some that will sound good with the deck power.

I have posted in here recently that I did the Arc mini and Hertz 6.5's but I also have a Sony head unit and Biketronics controller. The best I've heard so far, and I've heard multiple comparable combos. JMHO

Correct,.......you'll want to replace the old speakers, even in the rear.

You want a good 4ohm speaker.

I run 8 speakers,.....but the front fairings are Boston Accoustic PRO60SE. A great speaker, but cost a little $$$$.

A component speaker , that is 6 1/2 ", is your best choice.

Let your ears guide you !!

Good luckwith your project !
