I do have a few bucks for beer / coffee / pizza or what not. I've seen a few guys who offer to do the deed for $75 if I send the assembly in (all out of state, of course...), but I'd rather just ride over and help if I can or if nothing else, just drop it off locally.
Anyone know of anyone reasonably qualified in the Chicagoland area? Should I just show that photo album (this one -- http://albums.phanfare.com/slideshow...3&a_id=4945184 --) to an exhaust guy at the local Merlin's shop?
I have replaced many exhausts on my bikes. We can tackle it at my place. We just need to get Pat Higgins to help out on the welding (he might hit you up for some money) ****.... the boys and I from the Palatine HOG chapter just replaced my cams! It can't be that hard.

Hell, I suppose bringing this up at a HOG meeting would've helped... That said, I haven't been able to make one since last June.
But I'm more than willing to cough up a few bucks to get 'er done. I'm just --- anxious. Don't want to wait till my foot is completely cooked. It's a bit over "medium" just from the first 1k on this thing.
have you considered cutting it taking out all the guts and then going to one of the cheap mufflers place and having them weld it back up for less then $20...just a idea since most indys want at least $70 a hour
I cut my cat in have with a sawzall gutted it with my air chisel and weled it back together with a mig welder. I bought a set of XIEDS from nightrider and it took care of all my heat problems and the bike runs great.
