LOL< trust me, dust is not a bother - as everyone with a black bike knows, Black is great when clean but it does show dirt more. My bike is an 04 Smokey Gold and black - I ride often and clean seldom - therefore my inner looks dirty most of the time - Like I said, I prefer the mat black, but thats me, I do have my stock fairing and I have not taken the time to put it back - so that must say something, lol - what Iam not sure.
I really like the white bikes with the painted inner....

I did mine on my 09 SG last spring and was one of the best mods I have done to date, I love the way it dresses the front of the bike out and just looks finished. As far as the dust goes the entire bike is black so that is just part of owning a black vehicle and I have had no glare issues. Below is a link to an old thread with some good pictures of painted inner fairings and a few black ones, mine is on page 4 of the thread. PM me for better pictures if wanted and I will send on Saturday. I say go for it, I purchased a used take off inner fairing and cap andhad that one painted and then I had no down time. But it does not take that much time to do and was fun. Go for it!
I found a painted inner on ebay for 125 bucks and sold mine for 100. I got the carbon fiber looking switch cap as a dealer take off for 20 bucks. One of the best mods. IMO the chrome rings really set it off.
